6th March 2015 - Whakatau Wairua, whakarite wananga, mihi ki te roopu

KIA PIKI TE ORA!!!!

6th March 2015 - NGA MAHI TAIAO

Today we had some confusion as to where we were having our class but finally we all arrived back at Te Houtaewa.

We all had a chance to share what each of us have done over the last week and discussed the future venue with some unrest recently at the Trust.  All agreed that this whare was always a place of healing and that it has serviced our roopu well in the past, therefore we all felt comfortable to remain at Te Houtaewa as our base.

It was nice to have Marcia join us with her daughter and Yuko.
Yuko has just started doing mirimiri in the whare next door - it is nice to have that whare now being used for the purpose what it was intended.
Marica brought in some bees wax for the roopu to use for rongoa - some amazing people bring in all sorts of wonderful koha

WANANGA 20TH MARCH AT TE RARAWA MARAE
As we prepare for our Te Rarawa Conference we will be having a wananga to work through some of the final things we have to get ready it.
Our roopu has secured the catering as a fundraiser to get our roopu to Gisborne later on.
Here is our hit list for our catering for each of us remember to bring:

LUNCH
he hakari ano te ahua - what a beautiful lunch - hot smoked fish with all sorts of wonderful homebaking and pickles - we all feel very spoilt

NGA TUNA
We had a wonderful discussion on various Tuna including the Tuna heke and the  Lamprey Eel which is one of the oldest know fish in the world and a well know delicacy to many Maori and other cultures.

                           AWA RESTORATION
We discussed some of the awa restoration projects and viewed a video my students at TKKM o Te Rawhitiroa made in 2007 for the World River Conference - it also won the Outlook For Someday Sustainable Video Challenge that year, winning a laptop and video camera presented by Helen Clark

Next week weather permitting we will be going to the Ngahere - to collect and make rongoa

PIKI TE ORA - MAURI ORA!!!
