Unveiling of Te Aupouri Pou
& Screening of Kuaka Wharau
What an absolute privilege it was today to have our "Friday Class - Papahuriake" at Te Ahu Center today.
At Te Ahu we were a part of a huge milestone with the unveiling of the Te Aupouri Pou at Te Ahu. Attended by many of our Kuia / Kaumatua and Kura from our community, awesome to see so many tamariki from a number of our local Kura.
The carver (Kaiwhakairo) Duncan Kapa explained the design as contemporary whakairo with no one tupuna depicted in the design but hugely dedicated to the many tamariki to enjoy and learn about

Following the unveiling of the Pou we attended the screening of wonderful stories from Kuia / Kaumataua o Te Aupouri - Miharo nga korero katoa.
A massive thanks to those who filmed such beautiful stories which will now be available for all the descendants "mo ake tonu". Also to those wonderful kaiakorero who shared their stories and knowledge with us in these stories -
